On May 18, 2023 SAMFOUND took a Livelihood action’´ by engaging orphans of the « Ophelinat Ange d’Or de Nkometou II » in the Obala sub-division, Lekie division, Center region of Cameroon. SAMFOUND sensitized and raise awareness about climate change and Climate Adaptation and the Universal Declaration of Human Rightshttps://www.cdhc.cm to the orphans and less privilege through interactive exchanges using common examples around them, like less predictable growing seasons, food shortages, insect borne diseases like malaria, droughts and storms.
With such examples, the kids were able to understand and find themselves in the present-day condition, and acknowledge the effects of climate change.https://minepded.gov.cm/ In response, « monsieur je vais planter les arbres avec vous parce que nous avons besoins de fruits et l’abri chez nous », says manga Ayissi, one of the children of the orphanage. We have resorted to build a Climate Adaptation and movement https://www.unep.org/in the orphanage, and get other orphanages equally join the movement.
The kids further engaged themselves by happily taking action through the planting of trees around their compound,
Thoughtful that little efforts matter, this activity was to serve as a motivation to engage in the society to the less privilege and orphans.
